41 ROSS

Situated in historic Ross Alley in San Francisco Chinatown, 41 Ross is a collaboration between the Chinatown Community Development Center and the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco. 41 Ross is an active community space that brings together the general public including local residents, neighbors, and visitors to engage in art and culture making activities. More than an art gallery, 41 Ross is a community resource space and interactive studio that promotes dialogue, appreciation, and creative engagement around the local culture practice by everyday people in Chinatown. Its cultural programming serves to activate Ross Alley and other public spaces in Chinatown.

CHINESE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA

The Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) Museum is situated in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown located in a historic building designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan.

 On view is Chinese American: Exclusion/Inclusion, which traces the Chinese American experience since the beginning of trade between United States and China in 1784 through the turbulent struggle for equal rights and opportunities in this country. The exhibition features the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882, the immigration detention center experience at Angel Island, and the iconic Jake Lee watercolor paintings depicting key moments in Chinese American history.

CLARION PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

This 34-year old institution showcases music and art. A former music store, owner and poet Clara Hsu programs celebrate music, theater, visual art and poetry. Clarion also offers music instruction in piano, harmonicaguitar and Chinese traditional instruments for children and adults, as well as workshops for schools.
